I know what the Bible says about marriage and I believe the Bible to be God’s word. I also know that the two greatest commandments are to love God before all else, and next to love one’s fellow man (and woman) as much as you do yourself. And for good measure (no pun intended…really!) add to that the Lord’s commandment that we “judge not lest we be judged.” So when Chris Samson asked me how I felt about doing a cartoon on the upcoming ballot proposition condemning gay marriage, I didn’t approach the assignment as an Evangelical Christian but as a flawed human being (which I believe a redundant phrase) who seeks to both Love the Lord and treat his brothers and sisters in a non-judgmental and loving manner.
