Despite being inundated with information that inhaling the fumes of burning tobacco damages health, diminishes quality of life and invites an early death, about 25% of us are determined to continue smoking. My grandaddy called them “coffin nails.” My father died prematurely from emphysema. I’m at a loss as to why some folks will accept stinky breath, yellow teeth, and smelling like an ashtray. I suppose it’s the hit they get from nicotine. But you can get pills, gum and patches for that. Smokers’ Rights activists will tell you that smoking is a personal choice and none of my business. However, it is my business whey they fill my air with their smoke. Industrial plants need to get EPA clearance for their smoke emissions. Perhaps each smoker should have to have to file a separate Environmental Impact Report with every pack they buy.
