We recently learned that the Novato Narrows will remain…narrow…for the foreseeable future. The communities strung along 101 from Petaluma to Cloverdale will have to endure the current commute to points south for the next ten or so years. If I was inclined to indulge in conspiracy theories I might suppose that the preservation of that choke-point was part of some scheme to promote the SMART train. But since everyone north of the narrows (who are both math and economics challenged – which according to the last referendum on SMART – is a disturbing majority of voters) already supports that boondoggle…a conspiracy theory doesn’t hold water. Perhaps it’s just bureaucratic foot-dragging. Oh…wait…that’s redundant.
