It’s a shame to watch the dissolution of once eminent and serious organizations into Tammany Hall style pols jostling for a place at the Federal feeding trough. Sadly, proud organizations like the NAACP, NOW, AARP and ACLU have devolved into virtual sub-committees of the Democratic party presumably in return for favors once the donkeys rule jungle, and in the process have added their voices the harsh partisan mud-slinging that now suffices for political discourse. Alexander Tyler is quoted as saying; “A democracy…can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure.” It would seem that prominent civic institutions likewise trade their principles for pork.
