Two Guns, the buddy action movie starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, is an excellent B movie. It’s also a comedy-noir-caper film that’s ultimately so nihilistic it could belong to the Robert Rodriguez Mariachi series. EVERYONE – save the heroes – is bent, which leaves the heroes no option except to become…bank robbers. I’m not spoiling anything. This is all in the trailer. Washington and Wahlberg have great chemistry and some of their dialogue is inspired. Bill Paxton is an appropriately sleazy CIA agent who seems to have wandered away from a David Lynch film. James Marsden also plays against type, and does it well. And it’s always nice to see Paula Patton even in a thankless role.
