A couple of old warriors stride off into the sunset… Fire Chief Chris Albertson and City Manager Mike Bierman are retiring from the “field of battle.” Each will undoubtedly be besieged by offers of future employment, so I’m not sure their mutual departure qualifies as retirement in the “going fishing” sense, but I wish them both well and hope that the journey to the Free French outpost at Brazzaville is without incident. By the way, credit for the “Casablanca” metaphor goes to Chris Sampson who – come to find – can recite as much of film’s dialogue from memory as I can…maybe more.
